Notice of Study Commencement - New or Upgraded Transformer Station

The Study

Festival Hydro has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate

alternative means to meet the future forecasted electricity needs of the City of Stratford.

Options under review include 1) replacement of one transformer at the existing

transformer station, 2) construction of a new transformer station, and 3) adding

increased capacity to the existing transformer station. In the event that a new

transformer station is preferred, potential sites will be identified and evaluated.

The Process

This study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Class

Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities, pursuant to the

Environmental Assessment Act. The Class Environmental Assessment planning process

includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment

of the effects of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any

adverse impacts.
